Why talk so much about success?
Because as humans, we are wired to want to be successful, happy, and doing stuff. Otherwise we are boring. And bored. So what does “positioning for success” mean? It means putting yourself in a position to be ready to act and having the tools you need to do so. There are thousands of ways to do this and depends a lot on what you want.
First, you need to develop tools and skills – you get some of these from school and your education, but there are so many more you can learn outside of school. We don’t learn all we need in life from a book or a class. Next, you determine where and how to position yourself to maximize opportunities and be ready to take advantage of them.
What’s the pay-off? Why should you do this?
- Making friends easily
- Quality relationships
- Feeing great about yourself
- Bounce back from painful situations
- Have plenty of opportunities to choose from
- Become an expert before you graduate from college
- Make college easier, and faster
- Always have a job
